Challenge

The primary challenge for Lead Wichita was crafting a digital presence that could authentically represent the organization’s mission while serving a diverse audience of potential leaders. We needed to create a platform that not only informed but also inspired action and fostered a sense of belonging, all while ensuring it was accessible to users from varied backgrounds and technical abilities.

Additionally, the platform had to balance functionality with emotional resonance, providing practical tools for engagement while telling the story of community transformation in a compelling way. This required a deep understanding of the audience’s needs and a commitment to breaking down barriers to entry, both technological and cultural.

Solution

To address these challenges, I led the development of leadwichita.org using a human-centered design approach, ensuring that every feature was built with the end user in mind. Leveraging modern frameworks like Vue and Angular, we created an interactive, responsive platform that delivers a seamless experience across devices, empowering users to engage with the content and community effortlessly. Our focus on accessibility meant adhering to high standards, making the site navigable for all, including those using assistive technologies.

We integrated key functionalities such as partnership forms, event listings, and resource libraries to equip leaders with the tools they needed for growth. Each element was designed to foster connections between users, encouraging collaboration and dialogue through intuitive navigation and clear calls to action. The visual identity, anchored by the organization’s bold purple logo, was woven into the design to evoke inspiration and trust.
